Explanation of the styles offered:
Swedish Massage – This style is referred to as “classical”. Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes. The five basic strokes used in Swedish massage are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration.
Neuromuscular Therapy – Through applied knowledge of trigger points, neuromuscular therapy addresses postural distortion, biomechanical dysfunction, nerve compression and restriction of blood supply to tissues.
Deep Tissue – Designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. Focus is on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, athletes and patients who have sustained physical injury.
Sports Massage – This type of therapies geared towards athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. The technique is specific to the athlete’s sport of choice, focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.
